Grants for Cosmetology School with Criminal Background

Recently, we’ve had a few readers ask about beauty school grants and inquire, specifically, about the school grants for felons. To our knowledge, there is nothing that prevents grants for felons being offered through private grant organization.
Since grants for cosmetology school are offered based upon the donating organization’s own criteria, there is nothing that prevents ex offenders from applying for private grant money. In fact, we have found that cosmetology school is actually a great way to generate jobs for ex offenders who typically can not find work otherwise. Even if you can’t go through expunging a felony, most states will permit you to have a license in cosmetology without question. If you are considering the options for going to cosmetology school, you will want to check with your state licensing department to be sure there are no restrictions on licenses for felons and, to our knowledge, you should be free to apply for any type of private grant for cosmetology school without regard to your criminal background.
